Swiss legend Roger Federer spoke candidly about his past as he revealed on the Tennis court he is extremely competitive but off it, not so much. 36-year old Federer was recently included in American magazine weekly, TIMES' 100 most influential people in the world for the present year.`

Age has no boundary, and that is something that 36-year old Roger Federer has proved without a doubt. At 36 years and 195 days, Federer became the oldest player to be ranked number one in the ATP rankings.

Federer endured a stunning 14 months since the start of 2017 which began a strong set of wins for the Swiss player and resulted in him winning the Australian Open twice, Wimbledon and returned to the top spot in the ATP rankings. But Federer has revealed that it was a tough journey for him ever since he began his career in 1999. The Swiss national said that although he is a beast on the pitch but outside of it, he is not the same man.

In the beginning of my career it was almost painful. [I’d] get disappointed, frustrated, play a terrible match at the end and you’re like ‘should have done so many other things, I shouldn’t have behaved the way I did’.

“Today I can analyse it much better in the very moment. I think this is what experience is all about. I am very competitive on the tennis court but away from it, I’m not that competitive,” said Federer in a recent interview with American magazine weekly.

Federer, who has won 20 grand slams in a stunning career, spoke candidly about his relationship with his kids and his attitude as a father. He revealed that it is a challenge to balance work and family time on a daily basis.

“I’m very laid back and I think it makes me I believe a good father and good husband. Being a dad is a challenge in itself. You always have to figure things out. Trying to anticipate, trying to organise and at the end of the day it all gets thrown out of the window and you’re just trying to figure it out again and then again and again.

“There’s a lot that I still have to teach them and they also do get frustrated and sad when they lose. I was exactly the same so I’m happy that they are a little bit like me,” added Federer.
