Yuki Bhambri makes a first round exit from European Open
Coming to the tournament after a recovering from an injury, Yuki Bhambri suffered a defeat in the first round of the European Open being held in Antwerp, Belgium. Bhambri was coming back to the International arena after making a recovery after he had last appeared in the US Open in August.
It has not been an easy progress for Yuki Bhambri in his career as he has a body prone to injury. Back in 2016, he lost valuable six months of time due to an injury which also threw him out of top 500 tennis players ranking list. After making a comeback he recently suffered a knee injury which made him take another break this year.
Yuki Bhambri was not able to win even in a single match in the European Open as he lost 6-7(6) 7-5 1-6 to Italian Salvatore Caruso in the first round. The hard court tournament has a prize money worth Euro 686,080 at stake. Bhambri started well in the first set of the match leading at one stage as he was one break up against his rival but soon his serve was broken and the game turned on its head as Bhambri went on to lose the first set 6-7.
Though he made a comeback in the second set and took the set 7-5, the third set was totally one-sided one as he was broken twice in the third set and ultimately lost the third set 1-6. On the other hand in the men's doubles, the Indo-Kiwi partnership of Divij Sharan and Artem Sitak defeated the pairing of Leander Paes and Miguel Angel
