Sushil Kumar plans to move court for Olympic berth
Double Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar plans to take his fight for the Olympic berth to the court with the Wrestling Federation of India, not in favour of a trial between him and Narsingh Yadav. Narsingh had qualified for the Olympics in the men’s 74kg freestyle category in September last year.
Sushil is likely to file a motion in the Delhi High Court in a day or two, according to a report in the Hindustan Times.
“It is one of the options but we hope the matter is resolved before this,” a source was quoted as saying by HT.
The 32-year old wrestler has been demanding a trial for the Olympic spot ever since Narsingh won the bronze at the 2015 Wrestling World Championships in Las Vegas, last September.

The two-time Olympic medallist also took to the Social Media earlier today asking for support from his fans for a trail for the Olympics spot.
Sushil Kumar competed in the 66kg category in the last two Olympic Games and won a bronze medal in 2008 before bettering his mark to win the silver in 2012. The 32-year-old moved to the 74kg category after the 2012 Olympics with the 66kg category having been removed from the event. Although he won the Gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Sushil hasn’t featured in a competition since then with injuries bogging him down.
Sushil’s plan to move court comes after Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh confirmed their decision to send Narsingh to the Olympics.
“We have followed the tradition of sending the wrestler who wins the quota to the Olympics and we are not keen to change it. We don’t want to set a precedent,” Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was quoted as saying by the HT.
