Asian Games 2018 | Vinesh Phogat secures second Gold medal for India

Indian woman wrestler, Vinesh Phogat has won the second gold medal for India on the second day of the Asian games 2018 at Jakarta. Vinesh played the 50 kg weight category freestyle wrestling final against Japan's Yuki Irie and registered her win to clinch the second gold medal for India.

Vinesh beat her fellow Japanese opponent by a score of 6-2. This is the first time at the Asian games that an Indian woman wrestler has won a gold medal. 

Vinesh had been quite dominant in the entire bout against Yuki Irie. In the first round, she took a lead of 4-0. In the second round, Yuki tried to succumb Vinesh to gain two crucial points, but failed, leading to which Vinesh won the round and the match by an overall score of 6-2. This is the first time that Vinesh has won a gold medal at the Asian games. 

Even though she was suffering from a leg injury, Vinesh didn't give up and wrestled against Uzbekistan’s Daulatbike Y and won the game with the help of technical superiority and by a score of 10-0. 

Vinesh had won a bronze medal at the Asian games 2014 in Incheon. Apart from this, she had won a silver at the Asian championship and a gold at the Commonwealth games 2018.
