President of the WFI, Brij Bhushan Singh, declared that a decision on the matter between Sushil Kumar and Praveen Rana will be taken after the end of the PWL. The ugly incident in question occurred after selection trials for the Commonwealth games which Kumar might not be a part of if banned.

Two-time Olympic medalist, Sushil Kumar had an FIR lodged against him and five of his supporters after a scuffle broke out between him and fellow wrestler Praveen Rana’s supporters at the KD Jadhav stadium. Sushil has been booked by the Delhi Police based on allegations by wrestler Parveen Rana and his elder brother. President of WFI, Brij Bhushan Singh, was quick to respond on the issue and stated that a decision will be taken very soon.

"Praveen Rana had registered the complaint against Sushil in the matter after which we gave notice to Sushil and he has answered it. We will submit Rana`s complaint and Sushil`s answer to the disciplinary committee of WFI. Sushil has rejected all complaints lodged against him," said Singh.

When quizzed about the incident itself and what were his take on the whole matter, Singh said, "The feud did not take place in the trial area; rather it occurred in the warm-up area. And in the video clip which Rana has submitted to us, Sushil can't be seen. But if police files a charge-sheet and Sushil is found guilty in the matter, then the federation will have to take a significant action against him and he might also be banned from the upcoming Commonwealth Games."

"Praveen Rana had registered the complaint against Sushil in the matter after which we gave notice to Sushil and he has answered it. We will submit Rana`s complaint and Sushil`s answer to the disciplinary committee of WFI.

"A decision on the matter will be taken by the federation after the ongoing Pro Wrestling League. Sushil has rejected all complaints lodged against him,"

Now Sushil himself also had earlier told reporters his views on the whole scuffle.

"...he bit me but no problem, it might be his tactics to stop me from performing well. All this is a part of sports. Whatever happened here was wrong. I condemn it. There was mutual respect after the fight ended," Sushil had said.

This isn’t the first time Sushil’s supporters have been accused of intimidating his opponent. Last year, 2015 World Championship bronze medallist Narsingh Yadav alleged that he received threats after winning a court battle against Sushil before the Rio Olympics. Narsingh was subsequently given police protection.
