It is day eight at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and Indian wrestling stars will be playing their pre-quarters and quarters today. The action starts with men’s freestyle 65kg pre-quarters match between Bajrang Punia vs Lowe Bingham of Nauru, followed by Deepak Punia, Anshu Malik, and Divya Kakran.

Deepak is the more attacking of the two, as he secures one more.

Deepak starts the second period with a quick takedown. He is going for a gut wrentch. He gets it but cannot add more to his tally. This has been quite a technical bout so far, hence the low score so far. 

AND MOORE GETS ON THE BOARD!! DEEPAK DID WELL TO AVOID THE TAKEDOWN AS HE WAS PUSHED OUT!!

AND THAT IS IT!!! DEEPAK IS INTO THE FINAL!!

This is a heavyweight clash, and a big one.

After a struggle Indian gets points by fall, two of them.

AND TWO for Dhesi as well.

A fall for the Indian, and Dhesi is in lead.

As expected, Moore has started off on the backfoot. And he has been warned of passivity. 

He has still not done too much here. The clock should start soon on the Canadian. 

IT HAS NOW!!! AND DEEPAK GETS THE FIRST POINT AS THE CLOCK RUNS OUT ON MOORE! 

Deepak makes a move by trying to trip the Canadian. Moore defends well.

The Indian just does not look in form. Blessing has been superb and looks like first wrestler to bite the dust will be Divya.

UPDATE - SO next up will be Deepak Punia in action against vs Matthew Oxenham (New Zealand) in the men's 85kg category, in some time from now. Just don't go away as action concludes rather fast in wrestling.

BAJRANG 4 - BINGHAM 0 The match has been a quiet affair so far.  And Bingham is pulled down, two points there. Okay wait, BIngham is pinned. INDIAN WINS 4-0, and through to the quarters.

BAJRANG 0 - BINGHAM 0 So the match is underway and both the wrestlers are being cautious. Bingham warned for being cautious.

UPDATE - We are starting with the first match of the day on the mat, where Pakistan's Inayat Ullah takes on Adam Vella of Malta, in men's 65kg quarters. Bajrang plays right after that.
