Parupalli Kashyap was racing against time to qualify for the upcoming Rio Olympics, and now to make matters worse he has been dealt another injury blow. The 29-year-old limped out midway into the second game against Son Wan-Ho, in the German Open, and could miss out on the All England Championships.

"It's just sick, that's all I can say. I worked really hard for the last five weeks.

"I was able to walk but an hour after the match I wasn't able to walk properly. My leg slipped. It doesn't look like I will be OK for All England. The physio will tell me in a couple of days," Kashyap told DNA.

The Indian star was making a comeback to International badminton, after recuperating from a calf injury and an abdominal strain, which kept him out of the Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold and Thailand Masters GPG in January-February. His physiotherapist Dr Johnson said that they are waiting for the test results to arrive, before coming to a conclusion as to how long he will be out of action this time around.

"He (Kashyap) is fine now but we are waiting for some tests. Only after that, we can say how much time would be needed for him to recover," Dr Johnson Solomon told PTI.

Meanwhile, Indian challenge at the German Open folded with PV Sindhu being knocked out in the quarter-final of the tournament. The 20-year-old was the only Indian shuttler left in the competition, and she lost out to fourth-seeded Wang Shixian 16-21, 18-21 on Friday.
