Paralympics 2016 | Deepa Malik wins silver medal in shot put
India's Deepa Malik won the silver medal for India on Monday in the women's shot put F-53 in Paralympics in Rio. The 45-year old threw a distance of 4.61m, to secure the third medal for India in the Paralympics after Mariyappan Thangavelu and Varun Singh Bhati won medals in high jump.
While the Summer Olympics contingent of 120-odd athletes returned home with just two medals, India's Paralympic contingent have bettered them by one medal on Monday as Deepa Malik won the silver in women's shot put F-53 event.
After becoming the first female athlete to represent India in the Paralympics, the Arjuna Award recipient went a step further by securing another medal and bettered her personal best by throwing a distance of 4.61m.
