Sporty Solutionz Pvt Limited (SSPL) moved court against Badminton Association of India (BAI) on the grounds of protecting their intellectual property rights over the Indian Badminton League (IBL) on Thursday, even as BAI officially launched the second edition of the IBL with top players Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and K Srikanth present at the announcement.

SSPL were marketing partners of BAI in the inaugural edition of the IBL in 2013, while the league did not take place in the subsequent two years.  BAI then announced that Sportzlive are their new partners for the second edition of the tournament to be held between January 2 and 17.

“We have pleaded in the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi to restrict any other party from using the name, logo, title or any Intellectual Property associated with Brand Indian Badminton League or IBL," said SSPL counsel, Sanjeev Kumar.

The inaugural edition of the IBL was held across six Indian cities from August 14 to 31.
