Seventh seeded HS Prannoy, India's only surviving player in the men's draw, has progressed to the third round of the China Masters with a comfortable 21-13, 21-11 win over Huang Yuxiang. In the women's draw, PV Sindhu defeated Natsuki Nidaira to book her place in the second round on Wednesday.

HS Prannoy took on World No. 44 Huang Yuxiang of China in his second round fixture at Jiangsu, and it turned out to be a walk in the park for the Indian shuttler. The World No. 23 took only 34 minutes to knock-out his opponent 21-13, 21-11. He will now face Liew Daren of Malaysia in the third round of the tournament.

Like Prannoy, Sindhu also made quick work of her lowly ranked opponent Natsuki Nidaira, and won the match 21-16, 21-12 to enter the second round. She will face the winner of the match between Qin Peng and Chien-hui Yu, scheduled to take place later tonight, in her next encounter.

In men's doubles, Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy could not follow Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Akshay Dewalkar into the second round. The Indian duo lost out to Ruud Bosch and Oliver Leydon-Davis 19-21, 16-21 in their first round encounter.

In women's doubles, Jwala Gutta and her partner Ashwini Ponnappa defeated the Malaysian pair of Chow Mei Kuan and Lee Meng Yean 21-16, 21-18. They will now go up against the Chinese Taipei pair of Ti-jung Wu and Hsieh Pei-chen in their round 2 clash.
