Kumar Sangakkara Raises Concerns Over Sam Curran’s T20 Blast Availability During IPL
Rajasthan Royals were knocked out of the IPL with yesterday's match against Gujarat Titans. Sam Curran, one of their key all-rounders was ruled out of the tournament a few weeks back. But he was found playing for Surrey in the T20 Blast over the last few days.

Sam Curran is now back on the headlines for missing out on the Indian Premier League. Before the tournament started, he was ruled out of the tournament due to a groin injury. The English all-rounder suffered with this injury during the T20 World Cup and he spent some time in rehabilitation.
Rajasthan Royals, knowing he would be unavailable, announced Dasun Shanaka as a replacement for him. Yesterday, the team played in the Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans and ended up losing the same. After the match came to an end, Kumar Sangakkara was present in the post match presentation, where he was asked about Sam Curran.
Sangakkara knew that even after being ruled out of the IPL, he was playing for Surrey in the T20 Blast. He said, “We were told that Sam Curran had a season-ending injury, but I saw him play 2-3 games for Surrey. That was disappointing because we would have loved to have had him here with us.”
Our Take
Sam Curran has sparked a major controversy and it remains to be seen what the English all-rounder has to say about his decision to play in the Vitality Blast instead of the Indian Premier League. He could have been a game-changer for Rajasthan Royals if he joined the team late even when the playoffs were about to commence. Rajasthan Royals had a wonderful campaign but the unavailability of Sam Curran was noticed when the team suffered a critical loss to Gujarat Titans.
