Ajay Jayaram cruises into Dutch Open semifinals

Defending champion Ajay Jayaram cruised into the men’s singles semifinals of the Dutch Open Grand Prix badminton on Friday with a fluent straight games win over Brazil's Ygor Coelho De Oliveira. The mixed doubles pair of Pranaav Cherry Chopra and Sikki Reddy also entered the last-four stage.

After defeating Norway’s Marius Myhre in the quarterfinals, top-seeded Jayaram brushed aside eighth seed Oliveira 21-15, 21-18. The Indian plays fifth seed Anders Antonsen of Denmark next.

Meanwhile, the fourth-seeded Indian pair of Chopra and Sikki Reddy beat the French duo of Ronan Labar and Audrey Fontaine 21-10, 10-21, 21-17 in 44 minutes to stay in contention for their third title of the year.
