French Open | PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth, HS Prannoy enter semis
PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth have registered wins against Chen Yufei and Shi Yuqi in their respective matches to secure their place in the semifinals of the French Open. HS Prannoy has also managed to reach the next round of the tournament to face Srikanth after beating Jeon Hyeok Jin.
Sindhu managed her dominance in the game as she beat her opponent Yufei of China 21-14, 21-14 in a match which lasted for just 41 minutes. This is the first time that the Indian has reached the semifinals of the tournament. With this win, Sindhu exacted revenge on Yufei, who knocked her out in the opening round of the Denmark Open. The ace shuttler will now face the challenge of Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi in the last four.
Meanwhile, Srikanth, who entered this tournament after winning the Denmark Open title last Sunday, defeated Shi Yuqi of China as he is targeting his fourth Super Series title of the year.
In another Men’s singles match, HS Prannoy crossed the hurdle of South Korea’s Jeon Hyeok Jin. He took 47 minutes to enter in the semis after registering 21-16, 21-16 straight game win. Srikanth and Prannoy will now face each other in the semifinals of the Super Series event, today.
India’s hope in men’s doubles ended as Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost their match against Denmark’s pair Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen 21-5, 17-21, 21-17.
