Hyderabad Open | Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo creates upset as Sai Praneeth goes down in three-setter
Sai Praneeth has been ruled out of the Hyderabad open after his defeat in the second round by a young Indonesian player, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo. Praneeth ended up losing 21-13, 20-22, 12-21 and stated that he didn't understand how he couldn't focus during the game, which led to several mistakes.
Praneeth couldn't keep up with the form that he carried when he won the Singapore Superseries in 2017. The best he could do after that was reaching the semi-final at the New Zealand Open. He seeded second behind Sameer Verma at the Hyderabad Open and this was a huge opportunity for him to make a comeback.
However, the
Sai Praneeth even had match point against Wardoyo but could not convert and ended up losing in three games. He was really disappointed with the loss and stated that he couldn't understand what led to the lack of focus on the game.
“I don’t know what happened. I had match point and then I lost the shuttle in the lights to give away the point. That disturbed my concentration and I just made too many mistakes after that,” the world No 23, Sai Praneeth said.
