Sourabh Verma entered the men’s singles final with a 23-21, 21-16 straight-game win over Iskandar Zulkarnain of Malaysia at the ongoing BWF Hyderabad Open. Meanwhile, women’s doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy defeated Hong Kong’s Fan Ka Yan and Wu Yi Ting in the semis.

It was a good start to the weekend for Indian shuttlers as the likes of Sourabh Verma, Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy all made the finals of their respective competitive categories at the ongoing BWF Hyderabad Open. Verma, who had earlier won the Slovenia International in May, sealed a spot in the finals of the men's singles category after beating Iskandar Zulkarnain of Malaysia in straight sets by a scoreline of 23-21, 21-16.

In the semi-final match that lasted for 48 minutes, Verma kept his calm to outplay the Malyasian international. The seventh-seeded Indian, who had won the Dutch and Russian Super 100 titles last year, will face either Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew or Korea’s Heo Kwang Hee in the title clash today.

Meanwhile, leading Indian women's doubles duo of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy defeated Hong Kong’s Fan Ka Yan and Wu Yi Ting 21-12 21-12 to enter their first final of the 2019 international season. The 2018 Gold Coast CWG bronze medallists pair will face Korean combination of Baek Ha Na and Jung Kyung Eun in the finale on Sunday.
