Indian shuttler Sourabh Verma beat Kantawat Leelavechabutr of Thailand and Zhou Ze Qi of China to book a place in the main draw of the Thailand Open. Meanwhile, Sai Uttejitha Rao Chukka beat Tam Brittney of Canada 16-21, 21-14, 21-19 to enter the women’s singles main draw alongside Saina Nehwal.

The Indian contingent have enjoyed a series of mixed results at the ongoing Thailand Open qualifiers. Leading Indian men's singles player Sourabh Verma started off with a straight game victory against local player Kantawat Leelavechabutr by a scoreline of 21-18 21-19, before beating Zhou Ze Qi of China 11-21, 21-14, 21-18 in a hard-fought second qualification match to book a place in the main draw.

To add to this, Sai Uttejitha Rao Chukka got the better of Tam Brittney of Canada 16-21, 21-14, 21-19 to enter the women’s singles main draw, where she'll be joining fellow compatriot Saina Nehwal.

However, compatriot Ajay Jayaram made an exit in the qualification round in Bangkok as he lost to Zhou Ze Qi of China by a score of 16-21 13-21 in the opening qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal, seeded seventh, will open her women's singles campaign against a qualifier on Wednesday after she was forced to withdraw from both the Indonesia and Japan Open on medical grounds. However, PV Sindhu has withdrawn from the Thailand Open for unspecified reasons after making another heartbreaking exit against foe Akane Yamaguchi at the Japan Open quarterfinals last week.
