Kevin Pietersen pulls out of IPL 2017
Kevin Pietersen has announced on the Twitter that he will miss the IPL auction this year. The 36-year-old, who has featured heavily in various T20 leagues across the world in the past few months, has stated that he has been too busy in the winter and now wants to spend time at home.
The former England international has played for Hollywoodbets Dolphins in South Africa’s CSA T20 Challenge domestic tournament, scoring 198 runs in five outings for them. In the Big Bash League, Pietersen has continued his stint with Melbourne Stars, who had reached the semis this time around, with 268 runs in eight innings.
Pietersen has also featured in the inaugural Pakistan Super League with Quetta Gladiators, who finished with the runners-up trophy. After such a busy season, Pietersen is looking for a much-needed rest back home. He wrote on Twitter, "I won't be going into the IPL auction. My winter has been too busy with all my travel & I don't want to spend April/May away too!"

Pietersen had featured for Rising Pune Supergiants side in the last edition of the IPL which was cut short for him due to a calf injury. Pietersen had made only four appearances for them last year and was released by his franchise in December. He has previously played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Deccan Chargers, and Delhi Daredevils side.
