WATCH: MS Dhoni misses an easy stumping chance
When it comes to reflexes behind the wicket, there is probably no one in the world to match MS Dhoni’s standards. But yesterday, it was a fall for the man known for his quicksilver glove-work as Dhoni failed to contain a Kuldeep Yadav delivery and thus in the process, missed an easy stumping chance.
The said incident took place in the 16th over of the West Indian run-chase with Evin Lewis and Marlon Samuels shredding the Indian bowlers with absolute disdain. Seeing Kuldeep Yadav flight the ball, Samuels danced down the track to hit it over mid-wicket but completely missed the delivery. On any other day, it could have been the end of innings for Samuels but he found himself lucky as Dhoni failed to view the trajectory of the ball.
After failing to contain the delivery, Dhoni also let it through for a boundary. However, that was not the only incident in which Dhoni failed to do the stumping yesterday - he also had missed another stumping, albeit a more difficult one, of Lewis when he was on 61. Lewis, then, went on to score his second century against India to lead the Windies to a nine-wicket victory.
However, the incident is also bound to add more pressure on Dhoni, who has been under tremendous pressure ever since India’s loss to the Windies in the 4th ODI, where India failed to chase down 190 runs with Dhoni scoring 54 runs off 115 balls.
