Harmanpreet Kaur to star in Women Super League in England
On Saturday, Harmanpreet Kaur became the first ever Indian women to be selected for the Kia Women Super League organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board. The 28-year-old who previously has played for the Sydney Thunder in Australia will represent the Surrey Stars in the T20-format league.
The explosive Indian batswoman has precious previous experience of a major T20 platform having featured in Women's Big Bash League(WBBL) in Australia for Sydney Thunder.
The swashbuckling Indian has also made a name for herself with her off-spin bowling and was one of the first Indian women to be signed for the WBBL. She had an astounding debut with Sydney Thunder scoring 296-runs at an impressive average of 59.20 and also scalped six wickets to become the player of the tournament.
Kaur would fulfill the foreign quota of three players in the Surrey side alongside Australia’s Rene Farrell and South African Marizanne Kapp.
This is set to be the second edition of the league and will commence on August 10 later this year with six teams battling it out for the title. The table toppers from the group stage will earn a direct ticket to the final while the second and third-placed teams would fight it out in a virtual semi-final.
