India Red batsmen Sanjay Ramaswamy and Baba Aparajith hit unbeaten centuries on the final day of the first Duleep Trophy game of the season against India Green. The match ended in a draw with the Reds securing three points by virtue of the first innings lead while India Green got only one.

Resuming the final day with a score of 38/0, India Red lost the wicket of skipper Abhinav Mukund in the 11th over after slight delay due to wet outfield. Mukund was picked up by Ankit Rajpoot for 31. At tea, the Reds were 60/1 in 14 overs with an effective lead of 88 runs.

The game was heading towards a tame draw and the Reds were pretty much on the driver’s seat with a first innings lead and nine wickets in the second innings and showed no signs of declaration. Ramaswamy and Aparajith continued their great run with the bat in the second session as well and increased the woes of the Green bowlers.

Ramaswamy went on to score unbeaten 123 off 245 balls and his knock included nine fours and two hits over the ropes. Much like his brother, Aparajith also scored a hundred. The Tamil Nadu batter’s unbeaten knock of 101 off 205 deliveries was studded with seven fours and three maximums.

Apart from Rajpoot, no other India Green bowler was impressive enough before the players shook hands and the game ended in a draw with India Red at 262/1 in 79 overs.

India Red will now face Faiz Fazal-led India Blue in the next game of the Duleep Trophy starting on August 23 at Dindigul.
