Opener Prashant Chopra’s knock of 80 runs helped India Green recover well against India Blue in the virtual semi-final of Duleep Trophy at Dindigul. After the Blues were bowled out for 340, India Green scored 151/4 on Day 2 and are trailing by 189 runs in the third game of the tournament.

Brief scores: India Green 151/4 (Prashant Chopra 80, Baba Indrajith 35; Jaydev Unadkat 2-15) trail India Blue 340 (Dhruv Shorey 93, Faiz Fazal 76; Krishnamoorthy Vignesh 5-50) by 189 runs.

Resuming their innings from 263/3, Blues lost the wicket of overnight batsman Ricky Bhui (56) first when the fourth wicket partnership of 107 runs was broken by K Vignesh. Delhi man Dhruv Shorey missed out on a hundred as Atit Seth sent him back for 93 when the score was 303.

The India Blue side then lost their remaining five wickets for 37 runs with no significant contribution from the lower order. Vignesh ended up with a five-wicket haul.

Starting the bowling attack for India Blue, Saurashtra pacer Jaydev Unadkat wrecked havoc by picking up two quick wickets. Priyank Panchal was first to go for a duck when Unadkat took a catch of his own bowling in the third over. He was soon followed by Bengal batsman Sudip Chatterjee (0), who also got out to the left-armer.

Baba Indrajith and Prashant Chopra then showed some resistance at the crease and added 89 runs for the third wicket. Indrajith was stumped on 35 by Smit Patel off Saurabh Kumar’s bowling while Chopra went on to score 80 off 194 deliveries before becoming Saurabh’s second victim. Skipper Parthiv Patel (29) and Gurkeerat Singh Mann (5) then hung around at the crease till stumps on Day 2 for India Green.
