When RP Singh was active in international cricket, he came across as a fantastic human and was always praised for his on-field conduct. However, he put himself into controversy in Dubai after refusing to bowl the last ball of the over as a protest to umpireā€™s failure to spot Sunil Narine dismissal.

In his short but effective career for India, RP Singh made a name for himself thanks to his ability to generate swing in both directions and the Perth Test of 2008 saw him reaching the pinnacle as he guided the team to beat Australia for the first time at the venue. While there were flashes of emotional celebration, the striking thing about RP Singh was that he always remained true to his nature and never became an arrogant cricketer on the field. However, after retiring from the game, he has finally lost his cool on the field and guess what, it happened in the new T10 Cricket League in Dubai.

On the very fifth ball of the first over of the match, RP Singh, who was representing Pakhtoons in the game, bowled a fuller length ball to which Sunil Narine tried to slog it. However, he missed the ball completely and that went on to wicketkeeper Shafiqullah Shafiq. After collecting the ball, the keeper threw the ball at the non-strikerā€™s end and fortunately for him, it went on to hit the stumps.

While on first look, it seemed like Narine made the ground, replays suggested that his feet were off the ground at the point of contact. While that was clear in the video, umpire surprisingly asked for the game to continue which didnā€™t please the seamer and he denied to bowl the last ball of the over.

Then, Shahid Afridi, who was leading Pakhtoons, came to discuss the same with both RP Singh and the umpires and tried to sort out the controversy. Eventually, he seemed to be succeeded as the UP seamer took the ball again and decided to bowl the final ball of the over.Ā
