If you think Sachin Tendulkar was a hero in Mumbai, MS Dhoni is a God to his fans in Ranchi. In what could possibly be the former Indian skipper’s last game at his home ground in Ranchi, the entire crowd gave him an incredible rousing welcome with a loud 'Dhoni-Dhoni' chant in unison.

Murali Vijay’s dismissal in the Mumbai Test of 2013 just put an end to the years of Indian fans cheering the dismissal of a cricketer. Sachin Tendulkar walked onto the field for one final time in international cricket and people were at the top of their lungs to welcome their local hero. The scene in Ranchi, today, was no different.

After effecting a brilliant run-out in the first innings, Dhoni had the opportunity to see off yet another run-chase and make the game a memorable affair in Ranchi. After Ambati Rayudu’s dismissal, the chance came on a platter to him. As he was making his way into the crease, the Ranchi crowd got to its feet to welcome their hero who put the city on the national map.

“Dhoni-Dhoni” chant went berserk as he stepped onto the field of play and it kept on getting louder till he faced his first ball. Dhoni, however, kept his calm and went about his business as usual, without showing any emotion, like he has always done in his career.
