IND vs BAN | Indian pacers will get lot of advantage with pink ball, believes Aminul Islam
Former Bangladesh skipper Aminul Islam is of the belief that since pink ball does a lot more in the air and off the surface than the red ball, Indian pacers will have a lot of advantage and will enjoy the conditions. India and Bangladesh are set to play their first-ever D/N Test at the Eden Gardens.
Indian pacers especially Mohammad Shami, completely blew away the Bangladesh batting line-up to wrap up the first Test inside three days and the pink-ball will challenge the batsmen even more than what the red ball did. Eden Gardens wicket has changed from being a slow turner to being a wicket with pace and bounce and constant assistance for the quicks which makes the Indian bowling attack look twice as powerful. Former Bangladesh captain and the country's first Test centurion Aminul Islam believes that the Indian pace attack will torment the Bangladesh batsmen yet again.
"The way we saw the variation of pace bowling by (Mohammed) Shami, Ishant (Sharma) and (Umesh) Yadav, they will get a lot of advantage with this pink ball. Wherever you play, you get that extra breeze in the evening. India will take a lot of advantage of that," Aminul told PTI.
"Earlier, we had seen spinners like Anil Kumble leading Indian bowling but now it's about the pacers. This is the big transformation in Indian cricket. They have their best bowling attack ever, it's like the way the West Indians dominated the pace attack (in the world) at one point of time," he added.
Eden Gardens has witnessed some iconic moments in Test cricket like the famous Indian win against Australia which changed the mentality of Indian cricket forever and made India believe that they can come back from any situation and win Test matches against the best of oppositions. Similarly, Aminul believes that even this game will be an iconic moment that will be captured in the Home of Indian Cricket forever. He felt that Bangladesh showed some resistance in the second innings of the First Test and he hopes that they will take inspiration from that innings and stage a fightback in the series.
"We remember the 2001 epic Test between India and Australia at the Eden and now this upcoming Day/Night Test will be another milestone in the evolving format. Hope this is successful. I hope Bangladesh bounce back in this Test. They showed in the second innings (of the first Test) that they have it in them to stage a fightback. I will hope for the best," he concluded.
