Young pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti has returned to the Indian team for the upcoming Emerging Asia Cup after a 19-month injury layoff. Since his excellent campaign at the U-19 World Cup last year, Nagarkoti has been constantly monitored by specialists at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

When Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi ripped through teams in New Zealand last year, it seemed like India’s revolution in the fast bowling department had taken another step. The duo was picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL season (2018) that followed. However, Nagarkoti suffered stress fractures in his lower back, heel, ankle, and was forced into a near-two-year break from the game. The 19-year-old, who picked the first-ever hat-trick for Rajasthan in List A cricket, last played a competitive game during the Vijay Hazare Trophy last year.

However, the junior selection committee gathered for a meeting in Mumbai and announced that Nagarkoti will be a member in the squad for the Emerging Asia Cup teams tournament, scheduled to be held in Bangladesh in November.

Squad: Vinayak Gupta (NCA), Aryan Juyal (UPCA), B.R. Sharath (C & WK) (KSCA), Chinmay Sutar (MCA), Yash Rathod (VCA), Arman Jaffer (MCA), Sanveer Singh (PCA), Kamlesh Nagarkoti (Team Rajasthan), Hrithik Shokeen (DDCA), S.A. Desai (GCA), Arshdeep Singh (PCA), S.R. Dubey (VCA), Kumar Suraj (JSCA), P. Rekhade (VCA), Kuldip Yadav (DDCA).
