Moin Khan has stated that Misbah-Ul-Haq and Waqar Younis never liked Sarfaraz Ahmed and that's why they found their way as far as the captaincy is concerned. Khan has also expressed his surprise at the fact that despite being a highly successful T20 skipper, he has been sacked from the format.

In a customary post-World Cup sacking process that has come to be synonymous with Pakistan cricket over the years, the PCB sacked Sarfaraz Ahmed as the Test and T20I captain ahead of the November-December tour of Australia. If that was not enough, Sarfaraz has also been dropped from both the teams following a run of poor form in the two formats. While Azhar Ali has been named the Test captain, Babar Azam is chosen to lead the T20I side.

That shocked many former players, with Moin Khan commenting that Misbah and Waqar never liked Sarfaraz. Although Pakistan suffered an embarrassing 3-0 defeat at home to a second-string Sri Lankan side, Sarfaraz's captaincy has led Pakistan to be the leading national side in the world in the format.

“Misbah and Waqar (Younis) never liked Sarfaraz. I am shocked that the PCB has removed Sarfaraz from captaincy in T20I cricket. He has led Pakistan to 11 consecutive T20I series’ win and you can’t remove him due to few poor performances,” Moin Khan was quoted as saying by ARY News.

Moin also said coach and chief selector Misbah-Ul-Haq was being handed too much power and condemned the act by saying that it won't work for Pakistan’s cricket.

“I think making a single person too powerful won’t work for Pakistan’s cricket,” he warned.
