WATCH, WBBL | Alyssa Healy’s mystical jinx in mic brings Grace Harris’ downfall
Teammates often develop a deep bond and an intuitive understanding of each other's body language. Having spent significant time alongside Grace Harris on the national team, Alyssa Healy seemed to channel this understanding from the commentary box—only for it to be labeled a "jinx".
Eyeing to seal a spot in the top four, Brisbane Heat won the toss and elected to bat first against the Sydney Sixers. Openers Grace Harris and Georgia Redmayne kicked off on a positive note against the pacers. While Redmayne played the anchorer’s role, Harris attacked the bowlers inside the powerplay to pile up 34 runs in four overs. With the fifty-run coming up thick and fast, the introduction of the wrist spinner coupled with Healy’s jinx brought about Harris’ downfall.
Healy had the mic and was engaged in a casual conversation with the on-air commentators when Amelia came out to bowl in the seventh over. The White Ferns all-rounder came over the wicket and bowled a widish length ball Harris tried to slog across the line. However, the batter ended up with a top edge for a safe pouch to Sarah Bryce behind the stumps. But the twist occurred before the ball when Healy suggested that Harris looked a little switched off but she’s has a good plan where she wants to hit the ball. Eventually, the commentators had a crack with Healy as the Aussie all-rounder departed what turned out to be a great wicket.
Lolwa!Alyssa Healy has completely mozzed Grace Harris 😂
