Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna is not fit to take part in the first round of the 2024 Duleep Trophy, as confirmed by Shubman Gill, the captain of India A. He failed to recover from surgery in due time and will not take part in the encounter against India B at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Krishna, who went under the knife in February after injuring his left proximal quadriceps tendon was aiming to return for the Maharaja Trophy in August- September. However, his delayed rehabilitation left the eventual champions Mysuru Warriors devoid of the tall pacer.

Although Krishna was a part of the India A squad in the Duleep Trophy, skipper Gill confirmed that he won't be in action for the first game against the Abhimanyu Easwaran-led unit in Bengaluru.

Krishna was last seen in action during the Ranji Trophy clash between Karnataka and Gujarat where his 2/62 failed to assist the Southern State win, losing by 108 runs. He was also a part of India’s Test series against South Africa in the winters that followed the five-match T20I series against Australia following the 2023 Cricket World Cup in India.

The lanky pacer had a history of injuries, suffering from a stress fracture in the left leg in 2019 and a stress fracture at the back in 2022, ruling him out of IPL 2023. Although he aims to return in the later stages of the Duleep Trophy, it would be seen how he fares with the white rock.
