Uttar Pradesh batsman Rinku Singh has been chosen to represent India B in the second round of the Duleep Trophy in Bengaluru and Anantapur. His selection follows in the backdrop of several Indian players being called up for the Bangladesh series, resulting in their departure from the tournament.

‌Rinku Singh was initially overlooked for the Duleep Trophy due to his participation in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League. As captain of the Meerut Mavericks, the left-hander amassed 210 runs at an average of 42. His most recent red-ball appearance came during the 2024 Ranji Trophy match between Uttar Pradesh and Andhra, where he contributed 26 runs from 36 balls in a drawn game.

With multiple players departing to prepare for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, combined with a spate of injuries, the selectors have been compelled to turn to players who narrowly missed out on selection initially.

India B will lose the services of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Yash Dayal, the latter receiving his first Test call-up. In light of these departures, Rinku Singh, Suyash Prabhudesai, and Himanshu Mantri have been called up to strengthen the squad for the second round of the tournament.

Despite being named in India's Test squad for the Bangladesh series, Sarfaraz Khan is expected to play in the second round of the Duleep Trophy. India B's match against India C is slated to conclude on September 15, while the first Test between India and Bangladesh will begin on September 19.

Updated squad for India B: Abhimanyu Easwaran (capt), Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini, Mukesh Kumar, Rahul Chahar, R Sai Kishore, Mohit Awasthi, N Jagadeesan (wk), Rinku Singh, Suyash Prabhudesai, Himanshu Mantri.
