There’s no room for repeating silly errors at a professional level as it might cost a unit in team sports. Harleen Deol and Simran Shaikh of the Gujarat Giants made a mess out of a boundary save during a crucial moment of the first game of 2025 WPL against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Eyeing to set the tone from the first match of the season, the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru opted to field first after winning the toss. A fifty from Beth Mooney at the start made way for Ashleigh Gardner’s carnage coupled with Deandra Dottin’s cameo, propelling Gujarat to 201/4 in 20 overs. In reply, the Bengaluru side lost a couple of wickets in the form of their dopeners before Ellyse Perry and Raghvi Bist stabilised the stage with a 86-run partnership. However, they were assisted with poor fielding from the Giants with one of the laclustre efforts revolving around Harleen Deol and Simran Shaikh.

As Perry and Bist looked to switch gears after the powerplay, Perry flicked a length ball at the stumps from Sayali Sathgare on the fifth ball of the eight over. The ball raced quickly towards the fence, thanks to the fast outfield at the Kotambi Stadium, bisecting the two deep fielders for four. Harleen sprinted from long on while Simran tried to cover up from deep mid wicket. However, none of them actually put in full-fledged dive at the last moment to save the boundary. rather watched at each other as the white rock kissed the cushions. The Twitterverse, found it a tad unprofessional in terms of fielding, drawing labels from Pakistan’s infamous errors.
