Royal Challengers Bengaluru have received a good start to the tournament, as the team prepares for the match against CSK. Their bowling line-up has faced a number of issues lately. Yash Dayal decided to opt out of the tournament, Josh Hazlewood remains unfit for the start of the season, and Nuwan Thushara was not granted NOC by his board.
After the denial, he has now filed a court case against the Sri Lanka Cricket at the Colombo District Court. The board said that Thushara failed mandatory fitness tests, due to which his NOC has been denied. But Thushara has filed a case, noting the fact that his contract expired on 31 March 2026.
Since the case has now been taken to the court, a hearing will take place on 9 April. Thushara even said that he is planning to retire from international cricket. And at such a moment, not giving him the NOC comes as a restriction to his livelihood.
Our Take
The love for foreign players towards their IPL teams has been unmatched lately. As the matter between Sri Lanka Cricket and Nuwan Thushara goes legal, it remains to be seen what the outcome comes out to be. However, this case has also brought a setback to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL.
They would be playing without Thushara in their line-up for the next few weeks. This brings up more responsibility on Jacob Duffy, who has been a key bowler for the team in the recent games.
