India has started its second Test against Sri Lanka, as the team now aims to secure a clean sweep over the Lankans. Despite winning the first match against them without any interruptions, India brought down one change in the second game.

Kuldeep Yadav has been left out of the team, and in his place, Saransh Jain has been handed a debut. Indian skipper Shubman Gill confirmed that Kuldeep is suffering from a viral illness due to which he is unavailable for selection in this game. Amidst all this, Saransh Jain, who came as a replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy, has been handed his debut cap.

The BCCI also released a statement on the unavailability of Kuldeep Yadav. It said that Kuldeep is suffering from a viral illness due to which he was unavailable for this game. However, it was also mentioned that he could be available for the team to field as a concussion replacement, if required.

Our Take

Kuldeep Yadav being unavailable due to illness could be one reason for the team. But the other could have been his form, as he failed to take wickets in the first Test match, despite bowling around 25 overs. A pitch where spinners get assistance saw Kuldeep get the least out of the same. Still, the Indian fans will now be waiting for the spinner to make his comeback and eventually dominate for the team with his spin masterclass.
