Surprise Omissions and New Faces in India’s Asian Games 2026 Squad Probables

The BCCI is now preparing for another tournament later this year, which is the Asian Games 2026. India was able to win the previous edition and will be eager to continue the same. Amidst the IPL, the list of probables for the tournament have been revealed.

‌As the BCCI focuses on the 2027 World Cup, there is another tournament this year. And it is none other than the Asian Games 2026. The last time this tournament was played was in 2023, and India was able to finish as the Gold medalists. The BCCI would want the gold to return back to the country when the tournament takes place this time.

Jaiswal, Shreyas, Abhishek, Sooryavanshi, Hardik, Ishan, Samson, Ruturaj, Pant, Rinku, Tilak, Bumrah, Axar, Arshdeep, Kuldeep, Nitish, Prasidh, Varun, Anukul, Badoni, Harsh Dubey, Jurel, Khaleel, Bishnoi, Shahbaz, Dube, Vipraj, Harshit, Yash Thakur, Sundar
Amidst all this, the Indian Premier League came out as the best time to think about the names who could be listed in the Asian Games squad. The tournament will be played from 19 September to 4 October, as the schedule for the same is yet to be announced. 

Our Take

The list of players which has been revealed is for those who have been reportedly shortlisted by the BCCI. The main squad for the tournament will be announced by the BCCI later when the tournament is a few weeks away. But in the list of probables, there was a surprise omission in the form of Suryakumar Yadav. Still, various young talents such as Ayush Badoni, Anukul Roy, Harsh Dubey, and more, are being considered by the BCCI.
