Minerva Punjab owner Ranjit Bajaj taken to AIFF Ethics Committee
The owner of Minerva Punjab Football Club, Ranjit Bajaj was unanimously referred to the AIFF Ethics Committee, by the members of the I-League Committee. This development, confirmed by a member privy to the discussion, comes due to Bajaj’s frequent bashing of the federation on his Twitter handle.
Ranjit Bajaj has been a critic of the All India Football Federation for some time now, and he has made his displeasure public numerous times on his twitter handle. He was also one of the forerunners in the boycott of the Super Cup, by seven I-League Clubs, due to the unfair behaviour dished out by the federation.
However, the I-League Committee met on Saturday, on the sidelines of the Super Cup encounter between FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC, and has decided to refer Bajaj’s name to the Ethics Committee headed by Amod Kanth, over his frequent outbursts on social media. An official privy to the discussion bizarrely has stated that the 40-year-old was not specifically named, but the proposal was obviously directed at him.
“There was a proposal from some members about these frequent outbursts against the federation on social media. The members did not take any name but it was clearly directed at Bajaj,” said an official who attended the meeting, reported PTI.
“It was a unanimous decision and a proposal to take action for these outbursts will be sent to the Ethics Committee,” he added.
The owner of the Chandigarh based club did not stop his outburst even after reports of the meeting. He put up further tweets revealing his displeasure over the meeting.
"Is is it a sin to speak against the blatant injustice against I-League clubs? AIFF says yes, so we should DIE QUIETLY. How dare we speak out?," he tweeted on
