Manchester United starlet Mason Greenwood admitted that playing for the first team is a dream come true after he signed a new deal that ties him to the club until June of 2023. The teenage star made his first Premier League start against Cardiff in May and has played 12 games for the Red Devils.

Mason Greenwood has signed a new and improved contract with Premier League club Manchester United that will tie him at the club until June 2023 reports the BBC. There’s also a clause in the contract where Manchester United can extend the deal for one more year. The English striker has managed to find a way into the team with injuries causing a few problems and has done relatively well.

The 18-year-old went on to reveal that he’s delighted to sign the new deal and added that making his first team debut for his boyhood club is a dream come true. While his debut has been forced on, Greenwood even admitted that he would be nowhere if it wasn’t for his coaches and that he will repay their faith in him.

“Having grown up as a Manchester United fan, playing for the first team is a real dream come true. I know that, when I play for this club, I represent the whole academy and I want to repay the faith that my coaches have shown in me with my performances on the pitch. I am learning all the time from the manager and his coaching staff and I know that this is the perfect club to help me reach my potential,” said Greenwood reports the BBC.

The Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been under pressure due to the club’s recent slump but has also been praised for infusing youth into the team and building a team around youngsters. The 18-year-old Greenwood is one of 12 academy products to feature in Solskjaer's matchday squads this season and the Norwegian went to admit that he has been amazed by the progress that Greenwood has made.

“Mason has progressed through our outstanding academy and we are delighted with the progress he has made. At such a young age, he already has great pace and intelligence and he is such a natural finisher. Since he came into the first team, he has really impressed everyone with his drive and attitude.
