Reports | Manchester United eyeing a move for Emre Can
Premier League club Manchester United are considering to launch a bid for Juventus midfielder Emre Can in the January transfer window. Can has struggled to find regular playing minutes under new Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri and might want out from Juventus in search of more playing time.
Emre Can moved to Juventus from Liverpool in 2018 on a free transfer after spending 4 years at the Merseyside club. The 25-year old’s first season with the Old Lady panned out well as he made 29 appearances in Serie A but appears to have fallen out of favour under new head coach Maurizio Sarri. Sky Sports has reported that Manchester United are ready to launch a bid for the ex-Liverpool star in January and have added that the German is looking for a move.
Juventus will entertain an offer if they are offered the right price in the region of £35 million for their midfielder as Can is yet to start a game for the Serie A champions this season. Not only that, he has been omitted from the Serie A side's Champions League squad list something which he said made him consider leaving the club. He released a statement in September and went on to say that it was shocking for him to be excluded from the Champions League squad and that he wasn’t given proper justification for the exclusion.
However, the German international later apologized for his comments and wouldn’t entertain questions on this matter. Manchester United are struggling to find their footing in the Premier League this season and are keen to add reinforcements to the squad in January to try and save their season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants depth in the midfield and while Can is not one of the club's top targets, reports indicate that they are monitoring his situation.
The Red Devils have lost Ander Herrera on a free transfer to PSG and the Manchester club have failed to replace the Spaniard. If Manchester United sign Emre Can, he will surely give options to Solskjaer and will help him give more freedom to alter the team shape. The former Liverpool man can operate as a left or right side midfielder or even a holding midfielder.Â
