Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez has revealed that he believes the 2022 Qatar World Cup could be the best the world has ever seen because players wouldn’t have played too many games. The Belgian Red Devils go into the tournament as one of the favourites because of their golden generation.

While the decision to hand Qatar a World Cup continues to receive criticism and reports have indicated that a few teams are still planning to boycott the tournament, the 2022 World Cup will still be held in the Western Asian country. However, there is a bigger concern for the players given the weather conditions in the country which is why the tournament was moved to December, making it one of the first World Cups to be held in December.

That has further added to a few problems because that does mean that the tournament will be held at the midpoint of most leagues’ seasons which is a cause for concern. But that is not the way Roberto Martinez sees it as the Belgium head coach believes that the lack of minutes played will help make the tournament the best ever. He also believes that the players physical levels will be higher than they ever have been which will also help.

“I think this could be the best World Cup or the international tournament we have seen because the physical level of the players will be at a high level. Everyone will be less than 1,000 minutes into the game a few weeks after the start of the season – this is a good time for players to play for their national team,” Martinez said, reported the BBC.
