As the Bundesliga title race enters a crucial phase, Harry Kane and Bayern Munich were left frustrated after another unexpected setback, drawing 2-2 with Hamburg following a recent defeat to Augsburg. The reigning champions have now gone two league games without a win after previously remaining unbeaten in their first 18 matches, during which they recorded only two draws. Kane continued his impressive scoring form by netting his 22nd league goal of the season to equalise before Luis Díaz gave Bayern the lead early in the second half. However, Hamburg responded through Tottenham loanee Luka Vuskovic to secure a late equaliser.
The match was overshadowed by controversial refereeing decisions, with Bayern denied two potential penalties for an alleged handball by Daniel Elfadli and a push on Josip Stanišić. Kane reportedly criticised referee Harm Osmers after full time, calling him the worst he had encountered. Sporting director Max Eberl also suggested the official struggled to control key moments.
Despite the recent dip, Bayern remain top of the table, nine points clear of Borussia Dortmund. They are also through to the Champions League last 16 and the DFB Pokal quarter finals, leaving them well placed to compete on multiple fronts as the season progresses.
