Bangladesh quit ICC; Start their own Cricket council with associate teams
Tired of the injustice done to the Bangladesh Cricket Team by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Bangladesh Cricket Board has decided to cut ties with the ICC and have announced they will be starting their own Cricket council along with the other associate nations.
A senior Bangladesh official said, “Since years now, the Bangladesh Cricket team has been targeted by the BCCI. Yes, BCCI! Not ICC, BCCI! They gave Rohit Sharma not-out in the 2015 Cricket World Cup when it wasn’t even a no-ball and now in the 2016 World T20 they banned Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny just before our match against India. Co-incidence? I think not! This stops here. This stops with us splitting with ICC and their corrupt members once and for all, to start our own Cricket council.”
Meanwhile, captains of Ireland, Netherlands and Scotland, who had earlier expressed their displeasure of not getting enough games, did not seem quite convinced about the idea as one of the captains was spotted saying, “To be quite honest this is just Bangladesh being Bangladesh. We said we want to play ‘Top-level’ cricket, but this... well... you know what I mean, right?”
Bangladesh’s captain himself came out and expressed his excitement about the idea stating, “Injustice after injustice, cheating after cheating, our team has had enough. We are going to have our own set of rules. Our fans can photoshop any picture they want now. Our players can mock any team we want on Twitter *cough* India *cough*. We can even block opposition players running on the pitch how and when they wish to. We are also going to have our own tournaments and we are finally going to win a major tournament.”
A mild giggle was heard in the room after the last line, but the Afghanistan captain put the blame on a journalist instead. Nice save there!
The success and the failure of this new venture is as unpredictable as Shahid Afridi’s batting, but the Bangladesh fans seem to be as excited as Chris Gayle is during his post-match celebrations.
So will the associate nations agree to join it? Will Bangladesh finally win a major tournament? Will Jon Snow be resurrected? Hopefully the next few weeks will have all the answers.
P.S - Happy April Fool's day!
