Badminton

Star of the day: Defending champion & 6th seed P.V Sindhu has just won the Macau Open GPG beating 5th seed Minatsu Mitani 21-9, 21-23, 21-14. Earlier yesterday, she defeated 2nd seed & World No. 10 Yamaguchi of Japan in 3 sets - 21-8, 15-21, 21-16.

Stat of the day: 15-0: P V Sindhu’s record at Macau Open, a tournament she has now won thrice – 2013, 2014 & 2015.

Hockey

A reinvigorated India dominated the game but only managed to draw 1-1 with Germany in their second match at Hockey World League Finals. A brilliant Akashdeep Singh reverse flick helped India draw while umpiring cost the hosts the victory – a goal was not awarded despite the ball crossing the goal line from a Rupinder Singh drag-flick.

The match also saw some high quality goal-keeping from both Sreejesh and Andreas who made numerous critical saves to keep their sides in the game.

A 88’ goal by super-sub Dos Santos helped Delhi edge past NorthEast 2-1 and become the second team to qualify for ISL 2015 semis.  North East in 4th place will find it tricky to qualify as teams below them have a game in hand.
