After failing to win a medal in the first two days, India would hope for a change of fortunes today with former Olympic medallists Abhinav Bindra and Gagan Narang in action. Apart from shooting, Indian action will be in swimming, individual archery and both men’s and women’s hockey team.

2008 gold medal, 2012 bronze. Men’s 10m air rifle has been India’s favourite shooting event ever since Abhinav Bindra’s heroics at Beijing. Gagan Narang followed in the same path four years later and brought back a bronze medal for India. Will the medal-winning streak in the event continue this time? For that, you have to tune into our live blog at 5.30 pm to catch all the live updates of the qualification round.

In men’s trap, Manavjith Singh Sandhu and Kynan Chenai will take the shooting range for the second day of qualification. However, their chances of making the final look slim after an average performance yesterday.

After a failure in the team event, India’s women archers will be looking to redeem themselves in the individual event with Laxmirani Majhi in action today in the Round of 64 elimination. She will take on Alexandra Longová of Slovakia for a place in the last 32. If Laxmirani Majhi manages a win, then she will be again in action in the Round of 32 event later today.

The men’s and women’s hockey team will also be in action today with the men’s team taking on 2012 Olympic champions Germany and the women’s team facing Great Britain. The men’s team had started their tournament with a 3-2 win over Ireland, while the women came back from a two-goal deficit to grab a draw against Japan.

The swimming pools at Rio will also see two Indians in action today. Sajan Prakash and Shivani Kataria will be representing India in the pool, however, they are not expected to win any medals.
