Dipa Karmakar: At 2020 Olympics, my target will be gold
Dipa Karmakar provided the nation with its most memorable moment in what has been a disappointing Olympics so far for India. The 23-year-old, who finished 4th in women's vault after dazzling with her Produnova, has assured the nation that she will target a gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The Tripura-born girl scored 14.866 on her first attempt, and then she scored 15.266 with her Produnova, which took her average score to 15.066. But, she fell just short of a medal with Switzerland's Giulia Steingruber beating her to the bronze with a final score of 15.216.
“This is my highest score. But the medalists were better than me. Maybe, it was not my day.
“This is my highest score in Prudonova, I had 15.1 earlier. I am very happy with my vault. I gave my whole effort to bring an Olympic medal for my countrymen. But it was a tough luck,”
However, Dipa Karmakar's achievement is only heightened by the fact that she has accomplished it despite gymnastics being such a neglected sports in the nation.
