Badminton

PV Sindhu lost a thrilling encounter 21-19, 12-21, 15-21 against World No.1 Carolina Marin to win the silver medal in the women's singles final. After trailing for most of the first set, Sindhu won the set 21-19 with a fantastic comeback. Marin came back strong, though, and she won the second set comfortably 21-12 to take the match to a decider. Sindhu tried her best in the third set, but she could not keep up with the aggression and quality of Marin. The Spaniard went on to win the gold, while Sindhu became the first Indian women to win a silver medal in the Olympics.
