PM Modi wishes Indian Paralympics contingent ahead of Olympics
After sending its biggest contingent to the Rio Olympics, India is gearing up to send once again its biggest number of 17 athletes to the Paralympics Games at Rio De Janeiro. Ahead of their departure for the Games that will begin on September 7, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the athletes.
"The people of India will be enthusiastically cheering for our athletes representing India at the Rio 2016 Paralympics, starting September 7," Modi said.
"We all wish our contingent for the Rio 2016 Paralympics the very best. I am sure our athletes will give their best and make us proud," he added.
17 athletes, including 15 men and two women will be taking part in the event as India send its largest-ever contingent to the Paralympics. In 2012, India had sent only 10 athletes and had won a silver when Girisha Nagarajegowda placed second in the Men's High Jump F42 event.
Hopefully, we will put up a stronger show this time around. All the best!
