Reports : Justice Mukul Mudgal named chairman of selection committee for Dronacharya and Dhyan Chand Awards
Justice Mukul Mudgal will be heading the selection committee that has been formed to determine the Dronacharya and Dhyan Chand awardees this year, according to reports. The 11 member selection committee will also have the likes of Samresh Jung and Ashwini Ponnappa among the other members.
Justice Mukul Mudgal was also the head of the investigation conducted by Supreme Court in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal. Retired as Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Mudgal has been selected by the Sports Ministry, although the official announcement is yet to be made.
“The meeting will take place on September 16 in Delhi,” a source told PTI.

As for the awards, Dronacharya award is given to coaches, who have performed constantly during the time interval of four years. The Dhyan Chand award is given for the overall achievements that have been acquired by a sports person, during and after their career.
To avoid clashes with the Asian Games, which ended on September 2, the National Sports Award Ceremony will be held on September 25, in lieu of August 29, which is the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.
