Australia will soon be going against Pakistan in a three match ODI series. Mitchell Marsh was set to lead the team in this series, but he has been ruled out due to an injury. While he remains in Perth for assessment, Josh Inglis will be leading the team in his place.

In just a few days, Australia will be going against Pakistan in an away ODI series. While a number of players were rested in this series due to workload management and IPL playoffs, only a few of the key players made it to the team. Mitchell Marsh was all set to lead the line-up in the upcoming series, but he suffered with an injury.

It should be noted that Marsh went on to miss the last match for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. He suffered with a left ankle injury, due to which he has also been ruled out of the ODI series against Pakistan. In his place, the wicket-keeper, Josh Inglis has been handed over the responsibility to lead the Australian team in this series.

For Mitchell Marsh, it has been reported that he is sent back to Perth for further assessment of his injury. Upon taking a look at the same, it will be decided by Cricket Australia, whether he would be playing for the team in the series against Bangladesh or not.

Our Take

Mitchell Marsh being unavailable comes as a big setback for Australia in the series against Pakistan. The team has already missed out on big names such as Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood. Now, Marsh has been ruled out of the series due to an unfortunate injury. But this also comes as a bright opportunity for Josh Inglis, who gets to lead the team in the next series.
