Indian golfer has won the Outstanding Achievement as a Player Award at the fourth India Golf Industry Association (GIA) Awards in Delhi. Bhullar was the youngest golf player on the Asian Tour to register nine victories and has also won the prestigious Arjuna Award for his contribution to the sport.

The Golf Industry Association (GIA) Award ceremony was held in Delhi alongside the 8th India Golf & Turf Expo (IGTE) in the national capital and the Kapurthala-born star golfer was bestowed with the Outstanding Achievement as a Player Award at the ceremony at the Delhi Golf Club. The 31-year-old golfer from Punjab had won the Fiji International and a European Tour event last year.

After winning the award, the golfer said that the Indian Golf & Turf Expo is a great place to bring people associated with the sport together and it will only develop golf in the country.

"It's a great feeling to win this award in the midst of important people representing the industry in India. Marquee events, like the Indian Golf & Turf Expo, do a great job of getting golf professionals and authorities on one platform and is the right step towards strengthening the game in India," Bhullar was quoted as saying by IANS.

"I am sure in the days to come, this industry and the game is going to grow further. On a personal front, awards like these are the right motivation that any golfer would want early in the season. I would also like to thank the Golf Industry Association (GIA) for awarding me with the Outstanding Achievement as a player award this year."

Golf coaches Vijay Divecha and Nonita Lal Qureshi were also awarded during the event for their contribution towards the sport by guiding some of India’s talented golfers. Naya Raipur Development Authority was awarded as the 'First 18 Holes International Standard Golf Course Development by a Smart City in India' while The Royal Calcutta Golf Club and Eco Park, Kolkata, won the awards - 'Best Member Engagement Programme' and 'Best New Nine-Hole Golf course' respectively.
