Young Indian golfer S Chikkarangappa is placed a brilliant tied-sixth before the final round of the ongoing Indian Open Golf tournament at DLF Golf & Country Club, Gurugram. With one-under-71, another Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma has moved up four places to tied-15th in the same competition.Ā

Chikka, who came close to winning his first title in Asia and Europe in Mauritius last year, was the best Indian before the final round of the ongoing Indian Open golf tournament as he is placed a tied-sixth now. He was five shots behind Indo-American golfer Julian Suri and Englandā€™s Callum Shinkwin.

Shubhankar is the second best Indian after Chikka as after a well-crafted one-under-71 he has moved up four places to tied-15th. Rashid Khan (72) and SSP Chawrasia (71) are the other two Indians placed tied 21st and 47th respectively.Ā Ā

ā€œI started really well and that set the tone for the rest of the day. My ball striking was right up there as I hit almost all greens in regulation and found all fairways. The putting was also sharp,ā€ Chikka said after the end of the day, reported PTI.

ā€œI will take seven birdies and a bogey on this golf course any day. This is my best round at this course and almost feels like a course record. Iā€™ve been in good touch since late last year and that helped my confidence coming into this tournament. I just feel good about all aspects of my game at the moment.ā€
