India’s ace golfer Anirban Lahiri started the Byron Nelson PGA Tour on a negative note as he missed a bunch of easy puts, some of which were from inside 10 feet, to finish the first round one-under 70, in Dallas. His low point of the round was on the third when he missed a nine-footer for par.

Lahiri saw himself two-under after 17 before a bogey on ninth, which was his closing hole, eventually saw drop down to one-under and tied-81st. This could put further see him under pressure in the second round in order to make the cut.

The Indian hit 14 of 18 greens in regulation in his first round and had no less than five birdies. However, he also gave away as many as four bogeys that saw him finish at 70 at the par-71 at the Trinity Forest. Lahiri did do few things right in the round, like have a nice approach to set up a birdie and converting it. He also saved a nice par although it was tainted for he missed the fairway on second and a nine-footer on third for par to drop a shot.

Lahiri had two good approaches on Par-5 14th and Par-4 16th, which fetched him birdies and he was two-under. He missed a seven-footer for par on 17th before but he quickly made up on Par-5 first as he benefitted from a free drop and followed it by a good second shot and a chip for another birdie. However, he then missed a nine-footer for par on third meant only a par that left him 14 feet for par, which he missed.

Lahiri was in the game again as he pulled himself up for a birdie on seventh, but on ninth, he went right and then left and a below average chip left him 28 feet for par. He two-putted for bogey.

Among others, Denny McCarthy shot a career-low 8-under 63 with 10 birdies over a 12-hole stretch after an early double bogey as he took a one-shot lead over Tyler Duncan and Tom Hoge. Three-time major champion and the World No. 3 Brooks Koepka, was also among the nine players at 65.
