The Indian Table Tennis Federation announced the squad for the upcoming 2018 Asian Games to be held in Indonesia with the likes of Manika Batra, Sharath Kamal and G Sathiyan part of the 10-man squad. Apart from them, Harmeet Desai, Manav Thakkar, Ayhika Mukherjee, and Mouma Das are also included.

The Indian table tennis players did the country proud after their impressive performance at this year’s 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and will look to replicate the same at the 2018 Asian Games later this year.

The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) announced the 10-man squad to travel to Palembang in Indonesia for the impending Asian Games which included Manika Batra, who bagged four medals at the CWG, Sharath Kamal and top-ranked Indian males player - G Sathiyan as well. The trio are currently participating in the ongoing Ultimate Tennis Tournament with their respective franchises.

The men's and women's team have both undergone one change each from the successful CWG campaign with young paddlers Manav Thakkar and Ayhika Mukherjee coming in for Sanil Shetty and Pooja Sahasrabuddhe respectively. Disgraced paddler Soumyajit Ghosh remained out of the team after he was accused of raping an 18-year-old, which he has constantly denied.

The Asian Games are scheduled to begin from August 18 to September 2 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Teams:

Men: Achanta Sharath Kamal, Gnanasekaran Sathiyan, Anthony Amalraj, Harmeet Desai. Manav Thakkar
